For Martino, food quality management is a concrete objective of primary importance, as it is directly related to the protection of health and safeguarding life. Ensuring the safety and quality of what is produced and distributed, recognizing and managing risk factors, and transferring this commitment to the public are the defining elements of our corporate mission. Possessing a rigorous and effective management system to govern processes and related risks is the tool to win trust and consensus, respond to customer and consumer concerns, and communicate care in ensuring quality, safety, competence and efficiency during production, packaging and distribution, throughout the entire food supply chain.
To this end, the MARTINO family in recent years, has been equipped with specialized technicians who, sharing the values of the company mission, participate in maintaining the most restrictive and rigorous voluntary food safety standards, such as BRC and IFS, certifications adhered to the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative). Martino also cares about all consumers, even the most demanding ones, and it is precisely for them that it has decided to certify its company BRC, IFS, BIO, NATURLAND, EUK, VEGANOK, FDA and BIO SUISSE
The BRC (British Retail Consortium) is a global standard specifically for the safety of food products. The objective of BRC certification is to ensure the quality and safety of food products offered to consumers, by suppliers and retailers in the large-scale retail trade. Through this Certification, Martino demonstrates an ongoing commitment to safety, quality and compliance with the standards governing the agri-food industry.
The International Food Standard (IFS) enables large-scale retailers to ensure the quality and safety of the food products they sell and to control the quality level of products with their own brand. Thanks to this Certification, Martino has seen a reduction in second-party inspections performed by clients, with a decrease in direct and indirect costs, and has gained international recognition of the Standard and consequent openness to requests from clients from all over Europe.
Producing BIO means processing organic raw materials into BIO-certified food. It should be reiterated that organic product certification is a “supply chain” system, so MARTINO, for the processing stage, acquires Certified organic raw materials and devotes appropriate space and production lines to avoid risk of cross-contamination.
VEGANOK is the first and only Ethical Certification for Vegan products born in Italy. This certification, also obtained by Martino, guarantees that products adhering to the specification do not contain animal derivatives and that no animal testing has been done.
Currently, with the changed daily rhythms that often force meals outside the home, following the complex food preparation procedures according to Jewish laws would be quite complicated, so the need for Kosher-certified ready-to-use products has arisen. For a product, such as Martino's, to be Kosher-certified, it is necessary that it meet very strict quality standards and that all production and packaging procedures, as well as every single ingredient used in its preparation, comply with the restrictive Kasheruth laws.
Naturland is an international association working to promote organic farming. Naturland Certification meets the strictest internationally recognized standards. Companies like Martino that obtain Naturland Certification are required to meet both organic and social standards.
With the goal of meeting the rigorous standards of organic farming and prioritizing sustainable farming practices that promote soil health, biodiversity and water conservation, Martino has also enthusiastically and committedly adhered to the Bio Suisse standards whose same Certification gives it the right to sell its products as BIO SUISSE ORGANIC.
Among the latest milestones is obtaining FDA certification, which is important because it indicates that a product has been evaluated and deemed safe and effective for its intended use. Without FDA certification, products you want to market may not be allowed for sale in the United States or may be restricted.
Martino is pleased to report that it has achieved Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) certification, an important corporate recognition that certifies ethical, social, and environmental performance.
The SMETA audit covers a wide range of topics, including labor standards, health and safety, environmental performance, and business ethics. It is based on a number of ethical trade principles, including
the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) core code and International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions.
The SEDEX SMETA audit passed by Martino is: SMETA 2 Pillar certifying labor standards, health and safety.
